Erosion of teeth due to tartaric acid dust.

چکیده
Clinical descriptions of occupational dental erosion have been written by Berenzon (1931), Schour and Sarnat (1942), and by Lynch and Bell (1947). But dental erosion due to a dust does not appear to have been described. The present investigation originated in the observation of erosion of the upper incisor teeth of two dental patients, who thought that the destruction of their teeth was caused by their work. They mixed powders which, they understood, contained tartaric acid, and said that other girls were similarly affected. Observation in the factory showed that the atmosphere of the room in which these girls worked was indeed very dusty, and the problem was, therefore, to determine the composition of the dust and whether it affected the rest of the girls in the workshop.

Effects of Wind Erosion and Soil Salinization on Dust Storm Emission in Western Iran
Dust storms are known as hazardous problems in western part of Iran. Iraq is one of the main sources for dust storm arriving to the western part of Iran. The Radial Basis Function Network model (RBFN) has been used to assess wind erosion hazards in the source area of dust storms over several western Iranian cities. Normalized Difference Salinity Index (NDSI) was used to determine the changes in...
متن کاملUse of Anemometric Results and Threshold Velocities for Determination of Proper Regions Where Sand Storms are Generated (Case Study: Around the Synoptic Station of Yazd)
In order to recognize the wind erosion situation of a region, the survey of its windiness is not sufficient and the physical characteristics of earth are of importance too. In fact, the outbreak of dust storms in a region is due to the sensitivity of earth and domination of wind in that region. In this investigation we have tried to find a way for determining the regions in which a dust storm i...
متن کاملDental erosion patterns from intrinsic acid regurgitation and vomiting.
BACKGROUND The distribution of lesions from dental erosion due to intrinsic acid regurgitation and vomiting may be different from patterns of dental erosion due to extrinsic acids. To date studies have failed to validate this assumption. This study described the sites and nature of lesions from dental erosion in cases of intrinsic acid regurgitation, and compared them with the distribution of l...
متن کاملFogging low concentrated organic acid in a fattening pig unit - Effect on animal health and microclimate.
INTRODUCTION AND OBJECTIVE In intensive pig production aerial contaminates are potential hazards for the health of animals and humans. In this study, the effect of fogging a low concentrated tartaric acid solution on pigs' health, environmental and hygiene parameters were evaluated in an inhabited fattening unit. MATERIALS AND METHOD Pigs were housed in separate units (control group n=109 and...
